What Every Downtown Girl Needs

So, I have thoroughly enjoyed working downtown. I can actually get out at lunch and run much-needed errands. My favorite thing includes the ice-covered trees lit in Christmas lights, the gym 2 doors down, Tidalwave bookstore, and I have to admit, Nordstroms. Thank goodness REI isn't downtown. Only two slips on the ice, and I recovered well both times. I do need to remember that those parking garages have cars that zoom outta there, once while I was inches away and looking a bit panicked I am sure. Fun to dodge cars when you are skating on ice-thank goodness for traveler Uggs! I am almost set, but I have to have these I Pod adapted gloves! I now know that regular gloves won't cut it. Do I suffer? You betcha! What a great idea. I should have guessed.....they have an app for that too.

Dream Coat

So, it's Sunday evening and we typically make mad rushes to get ready for the ensuing week. These boys "bless" us every day and I am reminded that we have our hands FULL of blessings. The "terrible 2's".........they really DO exist. I cannot believe how strong-willed one little man can be. Plus, baby B is definitely in the mix! On the move constantly and I think walking is right around the corner. So, when I feel just a bit exasperated my mind goes to other "happy areas" and I am thankful that my life is full of these. One of the latest-my hubby still rocks! He got me a celebratory gift; a full-length cashmere coat, something I have always wanted! So hair pulling, toy stealing, food throwing......."cashmere coat" "cashmere coat" "cashmere coat."

Car seats make me want to pull my hair out!

I have been meaning to write this blog forever. I think all Mamas know how frustrating the car seat race can be. I have learned so much, but mostly realize that I will never be able to fully break the "car seat code." I have used quarterly calendar reminders on Outlook to research any updates about car seat safety. Sounds lame, right? Well, even when you have 2 babies in 2 years, safety standards and ratings can change! I have found this site to be very helpful. Also, it is important to check out your state DOT and DMV websites for any new laws, updates, etc. They also post dates and locations of fire houses or other community groups who do car seat inspections; much recommended.

Perhaps, there is another Blog Mommy out there who can help me with this dilemma. Both boys began growing out of their infant car seats by 4 months. Yup, 4 months and weighing ~20 pounds! We have gone back and forth a million times and hope we have always found the best RF car seats. I have had a lot of trouble while traveling on airplanes (frequently) since the big ol' honking car seats for our big ol' honking boys won't even fit in the airplane seat. I think we found an alternative though. The CARES restraint system is FAA approved and will actually allow us to use a restraint system that will fit in the plane seats. Plus, I am often alone, pregnant, etc. while traveling and carrying this strap compared to the clunky car seats seems like a win to me.

My next problem to solve.....I understand they extended the rear-facing recommendation, keeping babies rear facing until 2 years old. I dig this. Question? When your 1 year old has his knees to his chest because he is the height of a tall 2 year old, what do you do? Perhaps I will find a resolution here too. I doubt we will ever have a babe without having these "tall person" problems.
Like the picture? I always wonder what he is thinking about; whatever it is, he is doing so intently! Perhaps even he is trying to break the "car seat code."

All in all, a good day

HOORAY! I have been desperately waiting for Coffemate to come out with their seasonal Pumpkin Spice creamer. IT's HERE! This really made me happy today. Plus, I had my first birthday card (early) in the mail and I was totally blessed by it. The clouds parted and a bright sun shone down on our winter wonderland. Minus the crankiness after the flu shots today, the lost battle with this virus, and more cramming to meet multiple deadlines, many good things happened today.

Happy Veteran's Day

This is what I want to do all day........
